I did a hunt last month that had all of my favorite aspects: spot and stalk on public land, using a vintage iron-sights rifle — in this case, my sporterized Spanish Mauser in 7mm. I didn’t get the deer I was after, but I did come across a couple of hogs.

Congrats. Those look like big pigs.
Indeed. The boar in the top picture was noticeably bigger than the sow in the bottom picture. When I took the sow to the check station to be weighed, she was 95 lbs gutted — heavier than the whitetail doe that the hunter before me had shot.
Which makes it ironic that on this forum, feral hogs are lumped in with “other small game.”
