Fantastic. I love seeing and hearing about family hunting adventures. Having traditions and making our own new ones is so important. Oh, congrats on the bear!
Thanks guys. It was a fun hunt. The bear that we got we spotted at 6:20pm about a mile and half away. Having a solid two hours of light left, I asked Cooper if we should go get him and he was fired up and immediately answered yes. We headed down an old elk trail that took us to the base of the mountain he was on and we spotted him at about 300 yards. We sat there and watched him for a while, which was just a cool experience to be sitting next to my 5 yr old son watching a bear in the back country of MT. We closed the distance on the bear and ended up taking him at about 80 yrds. At that point it was getting dark and we were quite a ways from the truck so we decided to come back and get him in the morning. It was a fun retrieval...brought the whole family in to recover the bear. There was a lot of fun discussion and Q&A throughout the skinning, boning and packing session from two very inquisitive boys. Great Memories!
Very cool story and a great bear with the boys. Obviously they are learning a lot and before you know it they'll have a set of wheels and you'll need a bigger freezer. Congratulations.
