In further response to Benevolent Landowners, I've included a petition below.
The details: A couple of landowners in the Bitteroot are trying to get stream access closed on a slough over there. It has been all over the papers here for the last couple of weeks. The landowners include Huey Lewis and Charles Shwaab. Attached is a petition to protect public access on Mitchell Slough.
Basically they are trying to close legal access to the stream so no one can hunt ducks. This has been through the MT Supreme Court in the past and the court has always ruled on the side of the sportsman. Even if you could care less about duck hunting or hunting in general.. this could set a pretty bad precedent in Montana if it goes through.
There is more info if you click on the link below..and you are able to sign the petition digitally, and it only takes a minute or two. Fish and Game is holding a public hearing on Dec. 9 in Hamilton. By signing the petition, you help to protect public access laws and losing access to public land. The more signatures the better.
Thanks!
