This is why I am not fond of trophy hunting in itself, when they leave the meat to rot. This guy is a poacher but I have seen carcasses where other hunters have left the meat and took just the trophy.

There isn't anything wrong with someone wanting a large, mature animal.

Poachers are gonna poach; weather for meat, antlers, or fun, doing it the wrong way is wrong.

Trophy hunting isn't shooting an animal and leaving the meat to rot; that is wanton waste.

That doesn't mean that someone who pursues an animal with large antlers should also be villanized when he did it the right way. The way "trophy" has been weaponized isn't helpful, or truthful. Every animal on my wall I've eaten and now continue to enjoy. We all hunt for trophies, defined by our own standards.

Well said!

There is a difference between Trophy hunting and poaching. That was poaching to the core rite there. Agree with 406LIFE!!
