I'm a fellow 'Sconnie with a suggestion that worked great for me. I bought a Slumberjack Rail frame off camofire last year, then just use my regular bowhunting backpack (I have a slightly bigger/nicer pack I got at the bargain cave in Cabelas) and use the two in conjunction.
Set the backpack on the frame, and when you need to pack meat or tents etc, strap the pack over the top of that other stuff.
I workout with the frame and it is comfortable at 50 pounds. I haven't tried going over that yet, but I've been pleased with it
