CJ Chivers described it in “The Gun” as a firearm for “the small-statured, the mechanically disinclined, the dimwitted, and the untrained.” They last forever and the only marketing they need is having won a load of conflicts in parts of the world where you don’t go on vacation. No need to baby tykes on rimfires.

That is some dumb ass tone deaf marketing for sure, but might be a nice rifle I’d consider picking up for the kids. I agree with some of the statements about those of us in “gun culture” (whatever that is) need to police ourselves a little better and call out over the top marketing like this.
It’s not that kids can’t be responsible with firearms, but very few are able to get the experience and guidance necessary to fully comprehend the potential irrevocable consequences of pulling the trigger. It’s not a gun issue, it’s a parenting/eduction/morality problem.

I totally agree the PR used for this new firearm release was a CF.
First there were 99 bombs in Columbine that most did not go off due to faulty trigger systems. Why aren't propane tanks regulated? Maybe thankfully they didn't go off or we would be like Europe when bombs are the preferred methodology of major assaults instead of firearms.

Seriously? The look of your rifle determines your moral values? I have walnut stocked, HS Precision and Magpul stocked rifles, so what does that mean? Maybe the color of my truck is the problem too.
I despise the term AR (Assault Rifle) since it is an incorrect label for this rifle. AR stands for Armalite Rilfe not Assault Rifle. We are part of the problem when we use it incorrectly as well. The media labeled these rifles and we keep using their terminology?
Why not Multi Purpose Rfile (MPR?) which is exactly what they are in form and function.

For sure. To be clear, I certainly don’t feel bunched up about JR rifles per se.
I do think that intentionally provocative marketing is detrimental to the image of gun owners as a whole. Whether we like it or not, at some level image does matter.
