See this bachelor group almost every day heading to work with a couple of good looking bucks. Hope to get to watch this buck until he’s hard horned. He’s already got some great front forks just to bad he’s in North Dakota. I get to see 20-30 bucks a day on the way to work once you get over the border. I live 10 miles from the ND border and it’s amazing how the number and quality of deer change once you get to that border. Besides having less snow in this area the last couple years North Dakota’s way of somewhat managing their deer seems to work or work better than Montana’s “free for all”.

Awesome! Some management practices are better than others.

That's awesome. A lot of my enjoyment as a hunter is appreciating the animals and seeing them in their natural environment. You captured that beautifully. Thanks for sharing.

Bachelor group I watched all last summer. Seen the buck on the far left this morning but couldn’t get a picture. He’s alot taller this year but still just as narrow. Middle buck got shot in bow season last year

This picture was taken July 21st last year. Can tell how much greener we are this year

Wonder what that middle buck looks like. Dammit.
Shouldn't speed read. He would have been a stud this year. mtmuley

Another young North Dakota buck. Seen him after the season so hopefully get eyes on him sometime this year and see what kind of progress he’s made

I’ve been assured by the mtfwp biologists that those good genetics stop right at the ND border. Even if we didn’t kill all of our bucks every November they wouldn’t get any bigger.

Amazing what happens when everything that has a set of antlers isn’t shot.

I can remember seeing bachelor groups like this on public land in SE Montana. Of course that was before wide open doe tags and SE Mt was not the last best place in the state being promoted by every guy with a camera and a TV show

Took the daughter out scouting the other night into an area that it was nothing to see 20 bucks in an evening when I was younger. Seen 2 does and 1 fawn in that area and 3 coyotes.
