Its their world record non-typical whitetail, a pickup, not shot. Apparently rules for a pickup are not so strict.
The current March/April 2003 issue of TTHM has an article about it by Horace Gore, a 32 year supporter and scorer for B&C. He has some evidence its not from Missouri, where it was found. He wants DNA tests done. He doesn't like the B&C loose rules on pickup entries. He said they have nine world record big game that are "pickups" having no undeniable proof of origin or cause of death. This one scores like 44 points, 33 inch spread, 250 lbs, NO FRONT TEETH, was found in poor habitat, in 1981 and scored 333 7/8. He's asking now, 22 years after its in the book, if its not from a game farm in Minnesota and died in an illegal transport and was ditched where it was found. The DNA might help figure it out, if they do it. Anybody read about it?
