AZ Loyalty Point Question

Possibly a stupid question, but can’t seem to turn anything concrete up in my googling. Would I be qualified to earn a loyalty point in AZ after five consecutive years of buying bonus points only? Or does one need to actually apply for a unit in the draw to be eligible?
