The first shot was a little bit back and destroyed the liver, which was a fatal shot, just not an immediately fatal shot.

He was hobbling pretty bad, but was still trying to get away.

I lined up a second shot as he was facing away and I was going for the neck to put him down, but I was offhand, breathing heavily. and bouncing the crosshairs on the deer and the shot ended up too low.
