I'd rather get this answer from the folks at AZGFD themselves, but apparently nobody works there any more. I was on hold for probably around 2 hours and called a handful of different numbers trying to speak to an actual person. No luck.

Anyways, my question is my nonresident combo license expires on February 9 (same day as elk and pronghorn apps are due) and I purchased my bonus points for this year. Since I need a valid license when the application period ends, do I need to purchase another nonresident combo before that the 9th so it doesn't lapse since its good for 365 days? I don't want to get caught without one and not get my points for this year and lose my loyalty point.

Can anyone help me out? Also, if anyone has any tricks to get through to a live person that would be cool too.

Thanks

Your license is still valid on the 9th.

You will be fine, they have not bounced a single app from the draw since 2016 when they went to the 365 day license.

I can't comment on the validity of the license set to expire Feb 9.

However, you can buy a license while you still have one. I did it this year. You chose the date it becomes active.

Goodmorning all
Been contemplating our family's application strategies for Arizona, and since I haven't posted the prerequisite 10 posts to start a new topic on this forum, I will attempt to post my question on an old Arizona Draw post!
There have been many posts over the years on how the Arizona Draw actually works, even from BigFin himself, yet I am having trouble understanding how the Random draw odds work.

It has been posted that many of us waste our first choice(our shoot for the moon unit we know we can't draw in the bonus point round) on our applications, since we don't have enough bonus points to actually compete in the random draw with other non residents/residents that have higher points than we do. For instance, if my wife and daughter have 10 bonus points, is there any way to know if they actually have a shot at drawing the upper tier units requiring 23 or so points if I apply there for them for the early rifle hunts? Would I have any chance in drawing the upper tier units in the random draw for early archery like 23, 10, 9, 1, and 27 since I only have 16 bonus points? Thanks for any help you can offer!

I may not understand your question but if you have a point and are applying for a tag that makes it to a random draw then you have a chance to draw it. 2 point or 20 points doesn’t matter, it’s random.
Randy has some great videos explaining the Az draw out on YouTube.
Good luck

Thank you Elktrack. Im checking out Randy's videos again. The question I had was --do all bonus points make it into the secondary draw? In the scenario you gave, the 2 points or 20 don't have equal chances to draw, right?

Yes, all points make it into the draw. I’d have two chances and you’d have 20 chances. Hope this helps. It’s pretty interesting to study the draw results and see where a guy with 3 points drew a sheep tag or something ahead of guys with 20+

If u have 3 BP and I have 10.

In the second pass. U get three auto generated numbers I get ten. So increased BP help you get more lotto numbers.

Edit: elktrack got it.
