Not really sure where to start. I put in for this hunt really just trying to get a bonus point as I had drawn the year before and only had my loyalty and hunters education points. Well the deer gods smiled down and off I was to the north Kaibab for the late hunt. My wife and kids and I spent a week up here in September learning the unit and I boiled it down to a few options. Friday morning came and my dad and I were out well before first light and all we saw was a spike. Feeling pretty down I decided to check some water that was pretty remote. When I got there I found this buck all I could see was mass and that he was tall. After the the shot he only went about 30 yards. So happy that this was done on my own there are a ton of guide trucks up here. Anyway he was a fighter and had recently been battling, skinning him out he had 4-5 fresh injuries (not including the one I gave him)... Really fun hunt in a very special place! Hopefully we can get my dad his elk next week in 5b thanks for reading enjoy!

Congrats! It's always a great feeling being successful DIY when surrounded by outfitters. Great buck
