He had an Idaho elk super tag a couple years ago and the same year probably the hardest to draw archery elk tag in the state.

I can’t find Washington’s 2024 raffle results (2023: https://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/special-hunts/raffles/results), but he’s certainly throwing piles of $$ into Oregon’s.

Here in Oregon over the past 10 years, looks like he’s been very active and successful in winning.

From 2017 through 2020, each year Brooks won the statewide Elk and Deer combo raffle. That’s nuts.

Plus a sheep tag in 2017! Wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt but man it sure is easy to hate rich people. I mean spending money on something you love to do is one thing, but if I had that kind of money I don't think that's how I'd use it.

I don't know, I'd be doing plenty of hunting, I could see going for a few good raffles or whatever, but it seems like there's so many other hunts you could just go buy, at some point leave the limited stuff to the poor SOBs that have to get lucky. I honestly think if I had that kind of money I'd be living in AK flying a bush plane around doing most of my hunting up there, not pounding OR deer and elk over and over. I'd look at that Colockum bull on the wall and feel like I just bought a head from Cabelas.

I wonder how much of his cash and time he has contributed to conservation and wildlife projects? I think my satisfaction with hunting would have pretty quickly diminishing returns and I'd spend more time and money on things to benefit wildlife, hunting, access, etc. I guess everything changes once you actually have the cash.

I mean you're not wrong - if I had eff-you type money I'd like to think I'd spread it around. Maybe buy a metric boat load of raffle tickets and donate the tag if I won... but 100% sure I absolutely would spend an obscene amount of time and money hunting and not give 2 seconds of time thinking about what the internet thinks of me.

I mean - if there are raffle tags. And the funds from them is used for good... i dont see the fault.

I see some ethical issues with access to money commandeering a tag that for
a lot of people applying would be life changing.

Seems like thats on the folks regulating the sale of the raffle tag...
