Anyone else see this?

With Washington being Washington, I have always been surprised that they have allowed baiting for deer and elk anyway. I wonder if the clamor surrounding claims that this bull was baited will result in a push to end that practice?

When I was a kid growing up hunting whitetails I was obsessed with reading about record book bucks. I remember when the Hanson buck broke the record held by the Jordan buck. The Rompola buck always seemed fishy to me. It doesn’t look real and he went underground when Hanson threatened legal action. I consider it fake until he proves otherwise. I believe all it would take is x rays and official scoring. I guess we will never know the truth. Pictured below is the Jordan buck. One of the finest trophies of all time, in my opinion.

Why in the world would he sign an agreement like that though? And what kind of self righteous person would draft such an agreement to keep their own name at the top of the list??? Trippy. I’d never heard of this, thanks for sharing.

So many things about the story don’t make sense. It’s why so many people think it’s fake.

Has anyone ever seen a whitetail with antlers like that? If you imagine it as a European mount, with the skull pointed down at an angle, the antler points would literally point outwards and the beams curl down. The way the story is written, however, makes me want to believe. It’s like believing in Santa Clause though at this point.

I would bet that the Rompola buck is real. The story makes perfect sense to me, but then I know of several animals that would very likely go in B and C that have never been officially measured. You can never say for sure until they are entered. Some people just aren't obsessed with books/fame. Quite the opposite actually. I never killed them, they were killed by relatives that have now passed, but I own them.

Out west in some of these old ranch houses are bucks of a lifetime. No one would ever know unless they were invited inside.

How would you even manipulate a buck like the rompola buck? Partially came the buck vmremove the skull plate swap and then sew it back up?

In 1996 we outlawed baiting bears same time hound hunting ended for bear and cougar, and a few years back baiting for big game was restricted from unlimited to like a 5 gallon bucket of bait per site. Last year baiting was stopped under emergency order in the NE part of state after CWD was documented. I suspect it won't be long before baiting is outlawed completely.

I have a warden friend who had complaints about people in a HOA feeding a bear. They wouldn’t stop and he couldn’t catch them in the act. The bear was grossly over weight.

He just put in for a bear tag and went back that fall and killed it on the adjoining state land behind their houses. He had a rug made out it that is hanging on his wall. Lol

Wonder how long the residents looked for Yogi?

I’m glad for the hunter, don’t really care how or where he killed it.

Some of the bucks rompola claimed to have killed after the WR one look even goofier with beams going straight out the side of the head, funny looking faces, and never touching them in the pictures. Either they’re all fake or he found some of the widest bucks with odd pedicles in the country
