Hi guys,
I have enjoyed this forum a lot and certainly it helps with gaining information for myself and huntfit as we are planning some upcoming elk hunts in the states.

I just thought i would put this out there, i am flying into Christchurch on the 29th of September this year with a mate to meet a friend from the South Island and go self guided hunting tahr and chamois for 8 days. I was thinking last night we have room for somebody else to come or at least join us for a hunt or part of it (if it worked out) and if there were any OYOA members that were already over in NZ on a business or work or family trip maybe it would line up that they meet us for a few days and join us.

Bit of a slim shot i know, but just thought i would put it out there on the small chance it would work in with somebody. Must be fit, a keen hunter, good glasser and self sufficient.

No costs, just chip in with their share of food and fuel.

Anyway, see how it goes for somebody, the offer is there.

Cheers

Boy wish I could change my dates from May, would love to do it with someone experienced in hunting there but unfortunelately May is it. Any tips on hunting in Aus, sometime between May - Aug. entertaining any ideas and would love to include that in my trip I originally started looking to Aus. but gun import laws,OYOA options etc. seemed much better in New Zealand. Also could you PM me New Caledonia options? Any interest in New England Moose hunting let me know. Have camp in awesome moose location, you just need to hit the lottery.

I'll let you know if i am back over in may and it might work out. A good time to be climbing those hills.

If you are serious about hunting in Aus and can hunt independantly without somebody needing to be there with you every step of the hunt, i can get you set up no worries with help to obtain a game licence to hunt deer ($60 and no bag limits on the sambar) and use of a firearm and a few doxen 'x's on the map to get started. If you are fit and keen i can direct you into some wonderful hunting and backpacking if you want to go solo and most likely i would be able to get a few days away as well. Nothing is easy about hunting a species like Sambar that get pursued keenly 12 months of the year by hunters, but we hunt them all year long and have done so for 2 decades and have a lot of good local knowledge.

Pretty good opportunity lads, HGWT never invites me anywhere, know's I am better looking and will attract more of the fairer species. No seriously, if anyone can make it to NZ in October, would be well worth the effort, and save you a small fortune, apart from HGWT's alcohol bill.

huntfit alchohol tab already on me for you and HGWT's advise on my trip. as for fairer species; well hopefully I can outshine you both; just get me pointed in the right direction. HGWT dont worry about me, on a roll right now. Just arrowed nice deer tonite at 45 yds at fast walk. Bear last week and season just barely started.gonna be outa tags and left chasing squirrels and varmints real soon. lol

Sounds like a nice shot at the distance on the walk! Well done.

If you can get yourself through customs in OZ, then i am sure we can get you into some pretty good deer hunting for food and fuel costs...no tags to worry about, if your a good hunter you will do well.

And don't worry about Huntfit, he knows he has an open invitation down South with me wherever i go for any of my hunts, the problem is he has a wife and a house overflowing with kids...so i am sought of hoping he holds all his brownie points in the one bag to start working his way through them when the time comes to cash in on some of these elk preference points and make some good trips over to the Rockies.

Keep in touch, and i might be able to help you out with some hunt ideas for the NZ leg of your trip with locations and species etc..

The type of country that we will be in next week. Doesn't look like any guys will be over to work in with the trip.
Excellent Tahr habitat.

Sounds like your coming up trumps live free or die, be good if you fill all your tags.

Not real hard to outshine us pair with the fairer lot. lol
