Gastro Gnome - Eat Better Wherever

Any of you Zynners?

@FoodIsMemories - maybe the same with you, but your post got me thinking how crazy it is to 2023 me that many adults didn’t bat an eye at buying smokes for an unknown teenager outside a gas station when I was younger.

2023 me would also smack some sense into a kid about their life decisions if someone asked me.
Dude it’s unreal. In so many scenarios I’m like “WTF!?” And then I think about myself at that age… the world is a cruel place, my friend! So thankful to raise my kids in a place like Montana. Thankful I got my party days out of my system early too. Lol

Starting the tobacco pipe and gonna ween myself of that way. Gonna supplement with the zyns. My goal is to be done with smoking by November. Tried the cold turkey and working in a smoking casino kicks my ass ill admit it. We shall how it goes. If I have to take two weeks and hide in the hills I will.

Cigarettes were all around when I was a kid late 70’s early 80’s , by the time I was 13 sneaking cigs was what we did. By Highschool I always had a pack of camels or Marlboro Reds.

Smoked till my mid 20’s when I was playing a lot of basketball, the guys I hung around all chewed, I quit cigs and chewed for several years , Kodiak wintergreen or Copenhagen. One morning I woke up and ran my finger across the inside of my lower lip , a large piece of skin came loose , quit cold turkey that day. Have always felt blessed my body never became nicotine dependent. Because I know I should have been. Seems like it affects everyone differently

I tried my first cigarette at age 7. Quit cold turkey before I even finished it. I've never figured out how anyone could get addicted because why would they ever want to light up a second time? 🤮

no doubt zyn or something similar is nearly infinitely more healthy than smoking and definitely without a doubt a better alternative than chewing.

i encourage anyone and everyone with a tobacco habit to go try zyn instead, you will be healthier.

but it's just as hard if not harder to quit IMO. it becomes a 24/7 habit, every hour on the hour since it's invisible to everyone around you. be careful with it, nicotine still puts some stress on the body and hinders sleep.

smoked cigs in college, quit cigs with dip, quit dip with zyn. now i have an off again on again relationship with zyn or other nicotine pouches. i definitely feel better when i'm a no nicotine guy all around.

27 years ago I crumpled up the last empty box of Marlboro Reds I ever smoked and threw it in the trash. I was a 2 pack a day smoker. Cold turkey and have never looked back. mtmuley
X2 I was 2 a day with Camel filters. It's been at least 30 years. Cold turkey. Substituted the feel of the Bick in my right front pocket with a pocket knife and never wore a pocket shirt again. Left pocket ALWAYS has a pack of sugar free handy.

My dad was a nf camel 2pk a day guy. He tried cigars and pipe tobacco to no avail...passed (heart) just after his 61st birthday. Big bro quit cold Turkey at 42...left us hard at 64 from COPD. That shit's poison...never messed with it but plenty of 2nd hand.

Quitting was easy, getting started was the hard part. My cousin gave me a pinch of Copenhagen when I was around 13 and I got so sick I puked. Years later I tried a cigarette and got the same feeling of sickness coming on, threw out that cigarette and never had any issue quitting something I couldn’t start…

We had a smoking section for students at my HS and I graduated in '96...I was a 2 pack a day guy till '18, everybody on a tower crew smokes... You can do it just if you put your mind to it. After about 2 weeks you will start tasting, smelling, and feeling better it helps. Goof Luck!

I’ve tried to quit so many times in nearly 20 years that I’ve gone up and down from 1/2 pack to 2 packs a day back down again. Then started rolling my own out of a 1lb bag. That was when I really started gulping for air at night like a fish out of water, and my brain felt it man, I had to quit or it’s gonna kill me. So I would chew Copenhagen straight and leave em in for hours sometimes, finally pull it out and immediately light a cig, or vice versa..

I just hope it isn’t too late, like NHY was saying about big brother. I remember seeing a chart in a hospital once that said every natural step your body rehabs itself after like 10 minutes, a week, a month, a year, 5 years, 10 years. But I can’t seem to find it online… I don’t even think about cigarettes anymore, it’s so new and beautiful 😂

But I don’t like not at least HAVING my cotton, even if I’m not using them at the moment.

Both of those were over my head.. I did quit. I’m no longer the Biatch. Thanks! 😊😊☺️

I don't have an addictive nature. It was easy to quit the physical compulsion with substitutes, pocket knife, sugarless gum etc. The chemical dependent part is another game. It's no different than any other drug. Tell yourself that you can quit and don't lie to yourself. Do it.

Off the chew about 8 years now. Didn't even chew that long maybe a year or two. Nicotine is crazy addictive. If I found out I was going to die in a month first stop at the gas station id buy a can of chew. Ive had that conversation with about every ex dipper I know.
