2015 archery antelope, taken over the Labor Day weekend.
Using the very high winds to my advantage, I was able to crawl within 25 yards of this buck while he was bedded behind a large boulder, which kept me out of sight until I could take the shot. I never get tired of chasing pronghorn with a bow -- tons of fun and great eating.
Fresh meat, although far beyond that, Mother Nature smiled on us again first thing this morning...
Maybe even more after we backpacked two speed goats out of... well, kinda south of Amnesia Lake!!!
Not a big one but I was happy. He died on the other side of the river, so with the wind howling and the snow spitting, I stripped to my boxers and waded the Madison. Still waiting for my nuts to descend.
I was fortunate enough to take this beauty on the SE Colorado steppe this past fall; crawling through country featuring the lovely cholla plant and lonely male tarantulas was well worth it as I still grin every time I look at this beautiful creature. I'm with Randy in his admiration of this species and look forward to my next pronghorn hunt.
