Lack of Tip Leads to Restaurant Violence

Rule No. 1 of dining out: Always tip your waiter.

Anthony Wayne Palmer was stabbed in the parking lot of a Clemmons, N.C., restaurant last Friday night after failing to pay the tip that had been included in the bill for his wife's birthday dinner.

His wife, Susie Palmer, who had met her husband while waitressing at the Sagebrush, the very restaurant where the attack occurred, defended his decision to the Winston-Salem Journal.

"We took the ticket and scratched out the gratuity and wrote 'Due to poor service,'" she told the newspaper. "Normally, we're great tippers because I have done the business and I know what it was like."

Even more strangely, the men who allegedly attacked Anthony Palmer were not Sagebrush staffers, but fellow diners.

The fracas began when a waitress, not the one who'd served the Palmers' large party, complained to them about the lack of tip while they and their relatives were still seated.

Anthony Palmer refused to pay it, but was confronted in the parking lot by two men who'd been sitting at a neighboring table. One man punched him in the face. The other stabbed him.

Forsyth County sheriff's deputies arrested one man and searched for the other. Anthony Palmer was treated at a local hospital and released the following night.

The last time(and only time ) we went to the Outback, the tip was included in the bill...I don't play that game....Good service = good tip, telling me a 1/4" thick T-bone was a sirloin = 0 tip

LMFAO....My God those are some crazy People. I agree if the service is good, Tip them well. It is not like he was being cheap, but if your going to do a great job at serving then you will get a great tip. Right out of High School I worked at a dinner and one of the waitresses gave poor service to a old man, well the man left her Half a penny ( the penny was cut in half ). I LMFAO....she was a bit irritated but hey she was in a mood that day!!

I won't eat in a place where the gratuity is included in the bill. It has to be on the menu that the gratuity is included on the bill or its not legal. If they put it on, I take it off, and leave what I think the server earned, and don't go back.
TGIF, opened a new resturant just up the road from us. We went there for the first time, and they served my meal, then 10 minutes later brought my wifes meal. No tip, and I complained to the manager. He gave us a free meal voucher, and asked us to forgive them. The next time we went, she got her meal, mine was 5 minutes behind hers.(they gettin better) I wrote the home office. They sent us a free voucher, I sent it back told them we liked to eat together. WE don't go there anymore.

I tip lfor adequate service. That means you better bring the right stuff the first try, it better be hot or cold as appropriate. You better visit my table to refresh drinks at least every twenty minutes; else you are toast. When I don't tip; you get a lecture, written explanation, or a visit to the manager. When I do tip, which is 99 percent of the time, you get a minimum of 20 percent and I have given as much as 200 percent. Now; anybody got the names of those jerks who roughed up those patrons??
