Ruffs may be the best wild bird game meat. I think it's better than blue grouse.

That's hard to believe! I better get out where there are some and get one or a few then! Wish we had a huntable population here

I've never seen anyone so obsessed with grouse. I thought his DQ addiction was bad! LOL. I told him that a nice bull will provide more meat than a stinky bird but he brought up a good point,....grouse are easier to pack out. Anyway I can see how shooting grouse gives good practice, a meal on the table and helps with the slow times elk hunting brings. I'm still not sure I want my pack stinking like grouse while cow calling in griz country....Oh well I think I can out run him.

Awesome!! I will say, this past weekend opened my eyes to the differences in grouse behavior from one part of the country to others. The ruffed's Hank and I were chasing in MI acted like a completely different species than those I've encountered out West...
