Alaskan Mtn Goat Outfitter Recommendations

I hunted Kodiak with Mike Munsey in 2022 and highly recommend. I also duck hunted, fished and got a blacktail.

I did a hunt in the chugach years ago and was disappointed with so many hunters and guides on top of each other.

The biggest scoring goats are typically mainland SE Alaska.

Kodiak is all draw though, correct?

No, there are registration hunt areas on Kodiak in addition to the draw units. Some areas are over populated with goats.

It would be hard to beat Kodiak for the experience, as you could include fishing, sea ducks, deer, depending on who you book with. As mentioned, SE AK has the biggest goats, and a lot of rain, devil's club, etc. I went with Ed Toribio (Primo Expeditions) way back in 2008. It was great, no nonsense hunt for big goats, with the aforementioned rain and pain. If you're looking for a really big goat, I'd look for someone out of Ketchikan, etc.

A good friend of mine hunted with Lonesome dove outfitters in AK a year ago. Killed one with a bow and had nothing but high praise for the outfitters. It was a OTC tag. This wasn't Kodiak but the SE part of the state not exactly sure where.

I do have an outfitter of Valdez on my list.....can you confirm that is the area you are talking about?
