Well I finally got to take a breath after digging out from vacation at work! My June trip to Alaska was another successful trip, I would estimate I came back with approx. 40 sockeye making for a great supply for the coming year.

Below are a few of the photos I took, I am working on putting together a gopro video from the trip, but that will take more time...

Me, my brother, and my GF after catching our limit the first day out (6 per person)

Last days catch, not a full limit (9 per person at this point) but by this point any fish we were catching were staying in Alaska with family.

THis years run was pretty amazing. Best I've seen in the 10 years I've been here. The later run is shaping up to be similar.

I've also spent a fair amount of time fishing the same spots and come back with few fish. :D

Truth! I normally try fishing the middle river, but something happened midway through, the fish just started going straight from the confluence to the falls without really taking the normal breaks they do, meant I had to start fishing the confluence which I am not a huge fan of just cause the number of people!

I'm envisioning a pantry full of smoked, canned salmon! Looks and sounds like an awesome trip.
Canned salmon is heavy to bring back, so only like 6 fish worth of cans, the rest just frozen! Making some for dinner tonight actually!

Really wanted to go after some while we were there, but it was really a "working" vacation getting as much set up at the cabin that we could. I did manage to see some Kings working their way up Willow Creek. One of these days I'll manage to get it done!

If you're still up there it isn't too late :p Just talked with my brother and the second run is strong right now on the lower Kenai.

I like fishing the confluence more than the main river most days. I don't mind the people, and the fishing is always good when I go. The river is hit or miss, depending on time of day. Evenings and early mornings are best. I find it boring to slap the water knowing there is nothing there haha, vs not being able to see them in the main river. Haha.

Going to take the kids up to Willow or Montana this weekend to catch some "big" fish, or so my boy says.
