Africa advice

Bambistew, all I was noting was that it is way cheaper to hunt Nam or RSA than AK or for that matter any sheep or Elk guided in , for example, AZ or NM.....nothing disparaging meant if you took it that way
BTW, I have hunted AK with Dall tag, Caribou tag, Moose tag, Griz tag, and wolf tag....killed Dall and Blackie.....ate some other tags from inner mountain west, but they make good stew.....ate some tags here in TN too.....ate some turkey tags just this year in four states! But I will be back out there next year.
But if your "dream" is to some day hunt Africa, go now! It is cheaper than you think but going up again! BTW, I have found booking agents do not cost you a cent more if they are reputable and States based. I have used Atcheson's, Jim McCarthy and Wes Hixon and have no complaints!
I cleared my own firearms with SAPS for years but now use a service for clearing,,,,,easier, quicker and worth the $100 it shud cost.

The only problem with going to Africa hunting is it becomes addictive. I've been there twice and am already planning trip number three. Your choice of weapon is entirely up to you. Whatever you shoot best. I've done all the booking and leg work for my trips with no major problems. In my eyes that gave me more money for my trip. The last trip I flew with KLM and wouldn't use them again. South African Air to me was much better. I'd never mount anything over there because of their tanning process and I also believe our taxidermist over here are much better. I have however, seen great work from over there and some terrible. I know what I'm getting with my taxidermist and he's not an aocean away. I never had any tick issues but their is great stuff on the market to combat that. It's $15.99, called Permethrin, and sold at Cabelas. You wash your clothing, hang it up to dry, and then soak the clothing and allow that to dry. It lasts 6 washing. The CDC in regards to South Africa only suggests a flu shot which I get every year anyway. I hunted 3x1 this last trip and we tipped our PH $750.00, Tracker $450.00, and camp staff $300.00. Don't over do it on packing if they wash your clothing everyday as most Outfitters over there do. Looking forward to your pictures! Your in for a great experience!

Bambistew and TLC awesome pics! Congrats on those beautiful trophies!
