Advice on Mule Deer Strategy

If you want to talk Nevada, let me know. I will get you some info on where you can draw and such and if you are to get a tag I can give you some areas to go. Do have a few areas that are rather easy to draw as well for Out of State Hunters.

Guys, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the willingness to help out (especially a Texan!). I am a member of several forums and this is far from the norm. Given the opportunity, I'd be glad to return the favor, share some meat, etc.

What drives me, and I suspect many of you, is the challenge of OYO type hunting. With no disrespect to outfitters and guides, an average deer taken by the sweat of your brow is just much more special than one you pay to be set down in front of. As a taxpayer, the great expanses of public are there for US, and I want to use them.

I'll will update this thread as my plans evolve. I will add that I am a small business owner and we are due for a state audit around hunting season this year, so this may be a building toward 2014 year, but if there is any way I can make it happen I'll be in the field in October or November.

There are plenty of tags you can draw in CO with your 2 points that will give you the hunt you are looking for. I'm also big on NV. You have a chance to draw a tag any year you apply, and the odds just keep getting better when you don't draw. My number one hunting partner is my wife and I have just one other good friend I consider a hunting partner. I like to hunt with them when they have a tag as I get more enjoyment from their success than mine. I actually prefer to hunt solo when I'm the tag holder. Don't let solo hunting become an obstacle.
