Advice for rechambering .257 Roberts to AI

My rifle is now in the hands of Dan Coffin for rechambering. I can't wait to get it back and to start tinkering with loads. Thanks again to everyone for the suggestions.

Let's resurrect a thread from the dead, shall we?

@joelweb -- what have you learned about loading the the .257 AI? Any preferred powder/projectile combinations? How do you handle fireforming/do you anneal your cases prior to fireforming?

I've got a .257 AI light stalking rifle in the works and trying to accumulate as much information as I can before the build starts.

Here is the link to the thread I have on the 6 mm AI I am building that I referenced in that other thread. Not a 257, but very close. I also discussed with other Ackley nuts about fireforming and annealing.

A new build followed me home

Hey guys, so a new project followed me home from one of the local gun shops yesterday, the price was too good to pass up. It's a left handed Rem 700 in 270 Win, based on the date code it is either a 75 or 2005, I'm going with 75 since it had iron sights on it at one time. It is in a B&C...

Hey all, some of you saw in my other thread I recently ordered a 6mm Rem Ackley Improved barrel. I have been loading for my old man's 257 Ackley for a few years, but this is the first for me. I have a few questions for the guys with more experience with these blown out case cartridges...
