Dog’s really are our best friend. They love us unconditionally…10x more than we love them. It’s 6:43am as I type this message and it’s the first time my house has been this quiet in 13 years (actually 1 month shy of 13 years). 12 hours ago I had to make the hardest decision in my life; I had to take the pain away from our family dog, Bishop.

Bishop was a German Shorthaired Pointer that loved to chase birds, play with his buddies, go exploring through the woods (sometimes without me ha!), spending time at the cabin in Minnesota, but above all he loved his family.

It’s only been 12 hours and I miss him so much. He wanted to be by my side 24/7. If I walked out of the room, so did he. It’s the silence more than anything that makes this morning so difficult. The lack of a deep exhale as he repositions to find that comfy spot on his bed that I don’t hear.

13 years was just not long enough with my buddy but I know that he is chasing those birds already in heaven because let’s face it, ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN!

Give your pup an extra treat this morning in honor of my Bishop!

An extra treat and jaw rub in honor of Bishop. Why we continue to open threads we know will jerk our own memories... it's a uniquely special bond.

Saddened for your loss. Dogs give all.

Thanks. You’re right…I open these posts every time. It’s important because it reminds us that when the time comes we can’t have one more day. So through my experience, it’s a reminder for you that today may be your one more day. Cherish it.

Sorry for your loss. Always stinks seeing the threads of people losing their dogs. Dogs are definitely the best. Very sorry
