I started this last week. I've been looking at the picture for 2 years now. My friend took this pic and about 20 of this wolf I just couldn't decided which one to do and this one keep calling out to me. Paint Me !!!! So far I have about 4 hours in. I thinking its a 70 hour painting. 24x18" I want to make some changes and put a trout in the water and not sure about the creek bank yet.

Good question. I leave the finial touches of detail out all around the outline, plus it helps using brush sizes # 1& 2 to do the work. I can control just about ever speck on the canvas with them. My style also lends itself to working with individual brush strokes instead of mixing on the canvas I lay color by color.

I am at about 20 hours. You guys who know wolves , how am I doing ? Working on this wolf is quit a challenge. I remember every time I took a trip out west or into Canada I would always stop and buy a shirt for my son Jacob of wolves. They are magnificent animals and doing this study I am captivated by the colors in his wet coat and the lines given to his movement.

It's about 2 years for me to decided my next painting and I already am inspired to a Mule Deer after this Wolf. The medium is Ink's FW. My pallet is Med Red, Ocher Yellow, Blue, Brown, bright yellow. Sort of by accident I managed to pull a kind of 3-D out of the head to the body. I want to exploit that a bit more.

So who won the games yesterday Al I heard was back ground noise LOL

To give you a perspective on time I started yesterday at 2:30 with a few small breaks and finished about 10:30

Yesterday on the way home I stopped my my friend Clays home Studio, Not notch Photographer. We work out so good trades and he just got in high quality water color printing paper. He is excited to get this one. I am going to take advantage of him and his wife moving into a new home with 3 out buildings. The home is 1860's and 100% restored and upgraded. But he needs antiques to dress the inside up. Something I have a lot off.
