Back in the late 90's I remember getting the 500 round bricks of lead Winchester ammo at Walmart for 7.99. I always got them as stocking stuffers or as part of my Easter basket as a kid. I also remember going to the back of the pasture and shooting a tree in half just for the hell of it one day. Took about a brick's worth lol

Freds Dollar Store. I’ve got three red boxes of Federal power shok 30-06 my Dad bought a long long long time ago that had the price sticker on them…$6.99! Gun burned in a house fire and the ammo was still in the truck.

Gun Control Act of 1968, but I'm sure rural areas were slower to enforce it.

Hell my cousin and I could buy Budweiser and bullets at the local store when we were in Jr. High back in the 80’s! We were all kind of rural!
