I have been looking in loads for the GD's soon-to-be-built 7mm Mauser AI.

The info is difficult to find for the AI in a modern action.

I think we will start with a 140 gr bullet then later a much smaller one for P dogs/coyotes.

Maybe a sst or a ttsx if we can ever find any.

We have almost any kind of powder. At some point later I can envision something in like a 175-ish something, but she will have to grow into that. From what We have been finding RL-26 can increase FPS with little increase in recoil. But we will start with something in a midrange velocity, it's a 24" barrel.

Has anyone seen info or have some insight?

Start with working up loads from 7mm 08 data, I built one on a pre 64 mod 70 action before the 7mm 08 existed and a found for me the bullets in the 140 gr class shot lights out with almost any powder, Reloader 22, Varget and good old H4895 were well under MOA at velocities higher than the books show for the 7mm08. I have shot old style Barnes X and killed a lot of deer, a couple of elk with 150 gr accubonds, clocked all around 2700 fps. I have an original P O Ackley reloading manual I will have to look up his loads. Aside from the gun crank aspect of something you rarely see I would have built a 7mm08 with easier to find brass and factory ammo loaded way hotter than SAMI will allow 7mm mauser with all the old rifles with action strength issues. My next reloading project is working up a load with Hammer bullets.

Reduce 284Win data by 5%. Start with 5% under a 284Win starting load and work up.

You will probably finish closer to 2-3% under a 284Win load if you plan to hot rod it.

I load a 7mm Mauser AI. Stick with starting loads for the Mauser, and work up from there up to about 10% above max loads. I stayed with the RL17/IMR 4350 range of powders for the 140 TTSX and it's pushing 3050 fps. I think I'm at about 53 grains of RL17 with no pressure signs.

My first AI was 7mm Ackely Improved. Speer came out with Reloading Manual for Wildcat Cartridges printed 1959. In that manual is Ackley 7mmAI and loads where using Speer bullets. His manual has couple loads same with 130gr Speer bullet. I had Ruger 77, 7x57 and had barrel set back for the Ackley.

Another happy customer for Rl 17 and the 7x57. I’m up to 49gr. /140 ballistic tip/2930fps. I’ll try 49.5 then 50 grains to achieve 2950. That will give me a .338; 300 HH and 30/06, 7x57 and a 257 all shooting a deer or better bullet sub MOA at 2950 fps.

Straight 7x57? I feel like that’s substantially slow for a 7x57AI, but in the ballpark for a 7x57.
