That is actually, in my humble opinion, the most underrated cartridge out there. It checks a lot of boxes, and I am surprised it never took off. Sorry to hickjack you thread @Nick87

I agree. My dad shot competition in the early 70's and this is what he used. When I got old enough to hunt he asked what rifle I wanted, I said a .280. He built me one on a Rem. 700 action, I still have it and another, they are my go to rifles when I get to hunt. Used to be fun just to shoot, but there are cheaper things to shoot/reload for.That is actually, in my humble opinion, the most underrated cartridge out there.
