I was at my South Texas deer lease this morning and saw this 7’ long Indigo snake catch and eat a 5’ bull snake right in front of the porch. It was pretty wild. My daughter had 5 friends from school down and they got to see it too, they didn’t seem to traumatized.

You could see the zig-zag track of the indigo in the dust from where he launched his attack.

Probably the same bull snake that got into my storage shed last fall and was nose to nose with me while I was looking through some shelves. At that time I just took it out to the brush. Indigos eat rattlesnakes too, he’s welcome to hang around camp.

I dream about seeing this stuff in person! I have a 6’ black rat snake. People are usually mortified of it until I tell them they are a member of the king snake family, therefore they eat other snakes including venomous snakes.

The coolest snake thing I’ve ever seen was a bull snake constructing a red tailed hawk. We surmise the hawk picked up the snake to eat, but the bull snake constricted around it as it was flying away and they fell to the ground.
