I am lacking culture.

What is the rule when participating in a 50/50 raffle?

Am I a dick for expecting to take 50% if I win or do I donate it back and still likely retain my dick status? :p

I won it once when my son was playing college ball. It was a home game, small school. I donated it all back. Wasn’t that much. Relative won at Cat game once. Like 12k. He kept it all!

Funny enough, the hockey team I'm a fan of, the Oilers, do 50/50s all year long and they routinely get up into the millions. Always for a good cause (look up Ben Stelter), and yeah you keep your half. Its crazy to me to see the other 50/50s at different NHL rinks and they don't even get close to what it gets to in Edmonton.

Okay Mr Helpful, let's say it's a RMEF gathering and my cut would be $150.

How about if my take would be $5,000?

Is it the organization or the amount that defines the "situation"? :p 🤷‍♂️
Well how broke are you? That’s what really matters. We don’t want you starving.

Local chapter or HQ?

Local Chapter - a $5K donation could be transformational to the work the chapter could do. If you can give that up, do so. If it's $150, take it spend it on raffle tickets or buy the banquet organizers some drinks.

FTR - it's both. Situational means just that - depending on the situation.
