Public land on the ground with my bow love got the best of him this morning. Not the biggest guy but good body I'll take it for Public land. Oklahoma's rifle season opens tomorrow and I'll be playing host to friends and family on my property. Should be a good weekend as the ruts really kicked in to high gear. Gonna sit with my wife in the morning and my mom who turns 73 next week in the afternoon tomorrow.

The wife got it done even battling some pretty brutal morning sickness. She finished throwing up about 5 minutes before killing this fella today.

Most public land in Oklahoma is only opened the first 9 days of gun season. Today is the that 9th day. My best friend and I had been talking about hunting the piece of public that I'd killed my buck on during bow season. But with Thanksgiving and trying to get my wife a buck we hadn't been able to make it happen. We use to do 90% of our hunting together and while we still hunt together a lot wives, kids, and life have made things more complicated. But today was just like old times. I really had no intentions of killing a deer and just enjoyed the sunrise while listening to the geese pass overhead. Saw a young buck and 4 does one fat enough to make me question my resolve. I remembered the pile of deer I've already cut up this month and the one still hanging at home and didn't even pickup my rifle. About 9am my buddy text me that he had a doe down. Sense I was closer to the truck I told him I'd bring the deer cart to him. I got to him and we high-five he tells me the story and we load her up and head out joking, laughing, and reminiscing about hunts we'd had in the past. Hunting is fun but it's so much better when you have a great friend to share it with.

Headed to Wyoming tomorrow with @Cap-Tan to try and kill a couple late season cow elk. I'm gonna try and make this one more of a actual live hunt if I have the reception.
