Me and a few million other patriotic Americans are going to try to boost the economy by spending some extra money on Monday, May 1st.
I invite you to join us. Go out to lunch or dinner. By a new shirt, gun or car. If you have been thinking about a new T.V. or washing machine, Mondays is the day to buy it. Go hog wild, my wife is, her and her mother are going shopping for everything they might need for the next month.
Lets all get behind the U.S. economy this Monday. Tell a friend !
Thanks, A-con

That will be a good day to run right out and buy a copy of the cd of our National Anthem in frigging Spanish:BLEEP:

I think we all need to take Monday off from work to praise Czar Bushhump After all it is Mayday

Cripes even my mother told me she is waiting to grocery shop all weekend just to save it for Monday. I am to busy trying to find vans, buses and other forms of mass transportation to pull up at the local meeting spot, load up and go on a road trip. Road Trip anyone?

I spend hundreds on hireing illigal aliens today to get work done. I feel better... much better .. :D

Its going to be pretty funny when the American economy moves on without a hitch. Today is going to be a non-event!

Not sure what your definition is of "without a hitch", but I would say there are some "hitches"...... Do you think Tyson and Perdue are seeing a "hitch"?

Also Tyson Foods, the world's largest meat producer, planned to close five of nine beef plants and four of six pork plants, the AP reported. Perdue Farms plants said it would close eight of 14 facilities, according to the AP.

Now now, lets play nice. Remember what your mother said;
"if you can't say anything nice, take it to Current Events " !

They made a choice, probably for marketing reasons. A large percentage of the consumers of their products are Hispanic.

Cali,
You think Tyson closed more than 1/2 of their production for "marketing" reasons? Do you need to buy any Ocean Front Property or a new Bridge?

When did you fall of the turnip truck?

You think they'll be looking for a new human resources director soon?:D

Doubtful. What is the latest number on Market Share for them? Given Dubya's Justice Department's complete ignorance/apathy of Anti-Trust Laws, and complete abdication of responsibilty toward the same, the packers are now able to enjoy whatever policies they elect under Dubya's Justice Department.

Beef packing plants usually are not open a full five days a week. It is VERY common for them to shut down two or more days each week, depending on market conditions. This may, or may not have anything to do with the boycott.

A-Con,
And that is why Tyson put out a press release to notify people of a standard operating practice? Are you that naive that you are going to go in partners with Cali on buying that Bridge and Ocean Front Property???

Springdale, Arkansas -- April 28, 2006 -- Tyson Foods today issued the following statement in response to inquiries about the company’s operating schedule for Monday, May 1, in light of planned immigration rallies across the country:

Most of the more than 100 plants we own will operate Monday to meet the needs of our customers. About a dozen plants, mostly red meat operations, will be closed due to a combination of market conditions and the expected absence of workers.

While we understand the sentiment behind the May 1st events and support comprehensive immigration reform, we are not encouraging workers to participate in the rallies. At those plant locations where we are scheduled to operate, we are asking workers not to take any unauthorized time off and instead seek pre-approval from their supervisor or participate during non-work hours.

So you are so naive as to think they did it for unselfish, altruistic reasons? And you say I fell off the turnip truck???

I guess that's why you bought that "bridge and ocean front property" you are now trying to unload...sorry, you may have been stupid enough to buy it - don't try to sell it to me!
