OK, here's the question. I just picked up an older 6.5 Creedmoor Savage Axis.

It has a Nikko scope and sling. I got it for a fair price. I have no use for another 6.5 anything, so I'm planning to rebarrel it. I think a 25 needmore would fill a niche, but dies and barrels are not really caught up with it yet. So what, I have a 35 whelen that works great, but it'll put a hurt on your shoulder. I think I have kinda settled on the 358 Winchester, which is a 308 opened to 35 caliber. I have a 338 Federal that's dang good. With a Shaw barrel and RCBS dies, I can get into it for around $600 all in. I have goobs of brass and plenty of primers and many options for powders on hand. I'm thinking about 198 Hammer tipped bullets. Do you think I'm on the right track?

Truly a wonderful Thumper of a cartridge.

I’ve had a .350 RemMag and it was definitely too much of a good thing for me. I currently have a 9.3x62 and it’s wonderful with “standard” loads…286 grains at 2300 fps…

The .358 Win…there’s a cartridge I always thought would have been perfect in a light, quick, handy rifle. I would have loved one in a stainless, Browning BLR Takedown with a straight stock configuration. 200-225 grains…2350 fps or so…

Load it up and hunt the world.
