30-06 pet loads

I've gotten good results with combinations of accubonds and barnes tsx 165s using 4054 and rl17. I've run almost exclusively 165s. The 06 is one heck of a reliable cartridge and a joy to load for.

Lyman accuracy load: 52gr IMR-4064 under a Sierra 165 spitzer with WLR primers and PPU brass. The bullet is seated .020 off the lands. 2885 FPS averaged.

5 shots, 100 yards from a factory gun...

I have used a stiff load of IMR 4064 and 165 gr Sierra Gameking for years with Remington brass, CCI br2 primer and never had anything stand up and complain.

Another couple of favorites are a max of H4350 or IMR 4350 with the speer 200 grain hot cor pill and the same with 180's nosler

Really digging a load I got from another site. Work up in your own rifle! CCI primer, hornady brass, 180 NP seated as far as mag allows, 57 gr R17. No pressure signs and getting 2840 ish out of my 22" barrel.

The 2 Rem 760 pump guns i load for like 165gr. Ballistic Tips, or SST's over 56.0gr of IMR 4350.

Similar to Lefty315 load. I use Winchester brass and 57.4 grs of IMR4350 with the 165 gr. Nosler Accubond or Partition! Both of those bullets shot equally as well in two different rifles. One was a Remington 700 ADL with the 22" barrel and the rifle I use it in now is a Ruger 1B single-shot in 30-06. Either bullet works great on both game and is extremely accurate. I'll see if I can find a picture of a group with it. That's chronographed speed also, not a guess. The 1B Ruger has a 26" barrel which explains the greater velocity.

Exact same load I use on three different 30-06's and it suits all three about the same. I'm pleased to see that more people are using R17 now. I have 2 pounds of it and have been hard pressed to find published recipes though my books are about 3 years old so maybe there is more on line at some of the shooting sites.
