30-06 165gr RL26 or StaBall6.5

I hear that. Long time ago I bought 1000 Fed 215s and doubt that I'll ever use em all.

I'd be testing loads with suitable powders that are a tad easier to come by. Be nice if a guy could make 1 or 2 powders work for everything and a good reason to have rifles with similar case capacity cartridges.

For the rifles I shoot (7mm-08, 30-06, 300WM), I could get by with one of the 4350 powders for everything.

I’ve started to do something similar. I am a notorious tinkerer, and have been known to try several different loads and powders for a rifle “just because.” I’m circling back to simplicity, and have settled on I4350, H4895, RL7, and Unique to cover my .270 Win, .308 Win, 30-06, 30-30, 5.56, and 9mm needs. I still really like other powders better in some instances (H4831 or RL19 for .270 and CFE223 for my 5.56 ARs, and one of my .308s just LOVES RL15, for instance), but the I4350 is definitely not a dog in most of my “bigger” rifles.

The H4895 is very versatile, but I’ve found that RL7 is better for youth loads, 30-30, and light bullet 308 loads in most cases. I could almost trade my H4895 for CFE223 if it weren’t for needing it for a “mid range” .270 load that my daughter shoots.

Besides Reloder26 seems to be on the dang hard to find list.
I have 2 jugs of RL26 and enough 215M to burn it. As MTmuley mentioned reloaders are our own worst enemy and availability of even basics is starting to get hard again. When I buy a rifle I tend to buy enough components to last the expected life of a rifle. Yes it's an expensive alternative but it works great for me.

Turns out my friend now wants Barnes TTSX 150s and has them arriving on Friday. I gave him a list of potential powders and primers that will work so we'll see what is available when he goes shopping for them. My guess is he'll come back with one of the 4350s

I really want to tinker with Staball6.5 but I won't waste his bullets since this should last him 10 years worth of hunting once I get this stuff loaded for him.

I disagree, I,m getting 3014FPS from my 30/06 with 165gr Trophy Bonded Tipped at 3027 FPS SD was 8.1 on a different day.

that is out of my 6 lug Weatherby Mark 5 nearly new. 24" barrel. With Ballistic tips I got 3008 FPS. Used 215M primers

OAL was 3.280 Powder works great. MRP gave 3006FPS same Ballistic tip 165gr bullet.
