Jesus… There’s dumb, and then there’s “relying on YouTube to survive in the mountains in winter” dumb. I have no sympathy for the adults (two sisters), the kid was blameless in this, though.

What do you mean? "Relying on youtube". That sure sounds 14yo to me. Probably was his idea. It's just all around dumb.

The first article linked said “relying on YouTube”. Second one I found mentioned other books. Either way, that is not a valid survival strategy.
