.280 Rem Vs. .280 AI

What am I getting by making this conversion? Am I nearing or equalling 7mm Rem numbers? My desire would be to work up a good 140gr. Partition load... any opinions? Stupid question...

-50 to 150 fps depending on the rifle
-at least a 24" tube is desirable for the 280AI
-potential for less case trimming
-potential for lots of tinkering

I can get about 3150 fps with a 140 grain Partition with either RL22 or H4831

Thanks Jackfish... my M700 Mtn Rifle only sports a 22" tube and I really don't want to go through the expense of rebarreling. Perhaps I'll just keep it like it is.

By the way, I love Eau Claire! My folks live in NW Ontario and I drive through your town every year on my up and back! From Indianapolis, I figured Eau Claire is about 1/2 way. Do I stay at the Antlers Motel or keep on driving???? I've had to make that call hundreds of times...
