.25 Creed! But Why?

@Potsie
You really know how to start something.

I see a direct correlation between cartridge freaks and IPA fanboys.
I’m like @brockel and love new cartridges - the numbers, ballistics, and comparison between different ones really “tickles my ‘tism.”

But definitely not an IPA guy, I don’t even drink.

I think the heavy for cal 25 bullets strike a great balance between weight and BC. You need the 150+ class 6.5s to beat them in BC but then you need even more powder/recoil to get velocity.

I’ve got plenty of 6.5 and 6mm barrels and components to keep me busy for a while but I’ll strongly consider a 25x47 or 25 creed when the 6.5s are toast. The 6s still do something different enough when it comes to recoil and velocity IMO.

Barrel length?
24" Lilja No. 4 contour.

Plan is to run Hornady 134gr. ELD-Ms through it but also have a box of Sierra's MK resurrection of the 131gr. BlackJack to play with. Will also work up hunting loads with the 127gr. Hammer HHT and possibly the brand new Hornady 128gr. ELD-X. Should be living in the mid-3200s with the ELD-Ms (but SD is going to be a lot more important in those than raw speed) and the 3325-3350 range with the Hammers.

Edited to add: might stick a 67gr. Stone Hammer in a couple just to see if I can hit Mach Jesus.
