.25 Creed! But Why?

Do we need all the new offerings - why not? Hornady does a good job of supporting cartridges, so I'm sure it'll be around for a long time. I got a 25 Creedmoor years ago as a PRS rifle, before anyone was making brass for the quartermoor. Did I need it? No. Do I like it? Yes. I have a 6.5 SAUM and a 7 SAUM. Neither SAUM is drastically different than the other. I just like rifles.

25 creed is one of the ideal NRL hunter cartridges which is I’m sure what they are marketing to.

Zeroed off the roof of my truck on some random state land before heading out. Mr consistency. 135’s at 2848 PF of 384,480 and a bc of .334IMG_5672.jpeg

Not to pick too much fly chit from the pepper, but I’ve got some time before Dadding slows down enough to get out for bear season.

Why is there another SAAMI spec Creedmoor cartridge? Dinking around last night on AB and I don’t see a huge advantage over the 6.5 or 6 Creed. What does the quarter bore do that the others don’t, or am I just being a stick in the mud.
Because it’s fun

No .30 Creed out there. I'll stick with the RUM I guess. mtmuley
Oh just wait…I’m sure there will be one before too long. You don’t think they’ll pass up on an opportunity to market the next wiz bang miracle cartridge do ya?
Haha
Keep that RUM roaring bud

Some of us are just crazy about the .25 bore, and there's no explaining it. I've been shooting the slow twist 40 degree 25 creedmoor for 30 years or so. Most people know it as the 250AI. Same, same. Of course, the 250RCBS improved used the 30 degree shoulder, but it's a lot less common than the AI.

When Springfield sees fit to chamber the 2020 in it, I'll pick up my fast twist 30 degree 250AI.

My 6ARC bolt gun is fun. That's reason enough to own any gun. I'm sure I'll have just as much fun with the 25Creed.

I use to be a 25 cal whore back before I had a rangefinder. Owned 257 Robert’s, 257 ackley, 25-284, 25-06, 25-06 ackley, and a couple 257 weatherbys. Death by lightening.
I don’t know why they wouldn’t be death by lightening. I just don’t see why a 6.5XYZ wouldn’t equal them with better bullet availability. There isn’t anything wrong with any 25. If the options and availability of 25cal bullets we’re equal to that of the 6.5, and the 6.5 was as lacking as the 25cal is today, I’d be a 25 man all the way.

There are a few semi-obscure bullets for the 25 that are quite impressive.
