So I have a new tikka 243 with 22.5" barrel I'm looking to make an economical varmit load for. Not looking for absolutely every last fpm but not going to leave 300 fps on the table. I usually look at load data, pick the fastest then start looking at other variables that matter to me.
I'm going to be shooting 87 gr Vmax's for the higher bc varmit round i can also target shoot some with. I'm not seeing much load data at this bullet weight for the 243. If the enduron line wasn't discontinued I would've just used one of those powders.
Anyhow. I'm looking for a standard on the shelf powder by a main brand that's not extremely hard to find and won't be discontinued next month, is in the normal going rate price range for a pound (less than 50), and is temperature insensitive. I liked h4831 but hodgons got it (and everything from Australia i believe) way overpriced. Need to stay economical. I did find Accurate 4350 for a normal price and a load data for in and 87 gr but I don't think that's a common powder brand to find around here and isn't temperature stable.
Any recommendations?
