24 moose

After awhile that bull started moving right, along the alders, down hill toward the trees. At about 3/4 mile down hill and in the trees, a long cow call turned him into the ravine, crossed the creek, went into the brush on our side. I told the boys "he's coming!" As the hours went by, it became apparent he had other moose business to attend to.

So good!

This trip it has rained every day, a couple of days we were socked in, and could not see anything. Each day grey and over cast, until tonight. The sky opened up, and stars shining through.

These are rapidly moving, changing displays of a divine presence.

I got a chance at another bull right at first light. Spotted him dropping into a creek crossing and guessed where he may show. Hustled down the trail, then climbed a small knob. He showed up briefly after twenty minutes, standing broadside. Wide palms, doesn't have the brow tines, he is gone before I could size him up. Less than 300yd out. If I cant call it legal, I try to get pictures. Spent a few hours calling, scraping, no response.
Love that cold, crisp morning air! Moose country.

Wide Willy

Wide Willy was found bedded a ways off. The kid spent most of the day looking for him, never connected. Our hunt trip, no bears, no wolves, no hanging meat. A great time camping and chasing moose!
I'm grateful for the memories made, hunting with my boys.
