Well, I finally got out to shoot up some of the loads I put together with H-335. While they were definitely better than the results I got with IMR-3031 or IMR-4895, they were almost identical to the results I got with W-748. I did find out that seating the bullets out helped quite a bit, as my Savage has a loooong throat. It was a pretty hot day (over 90), but no pressure signs and the loads chrono'ed at 3350 to 3500 FPS from my 20-inch barrel. That's a variety of loads from 24.5 to 26.5 gr of H-335 and up to 27 gr of W-748...not the deviation of one charge weight! :D Both the 26.5 gr load of H-335 and the 27 gr load of W-748 with 50 gr Speer TNT's shot under a half inch when the breeze wasn't blowing. So I'm happy with the results. Thanks to those who suggested the H-335 to me a while back.

Rick, those are almost the identical results I got when I compared those same 2 loads. They both shoot about the same size group, and one cleans about the same as the other.

Did ya ever get a chance to try Varget in the 223? If so how did it do? ;) WD

I haven't had a chance to try Varget yet, but my buddy was shooting it in his .223 as well as some factory Winchester white box 45 gr bullets...until he shot one of his handloads that he forgot to put powder in!!! OOPS! The primer lodged the bullet just into the rifling, and we didn't bring a cleaning rod. (Boresnakes don't work well at removing the bullets....:D ) The W-748 and H-335 loads shot just about to the same point of impact, too. At least a ground squirrel out to a couple hundred yards wouldn't know the difference.

CH Glad they wroked for you. That H335 load or BLC 2 load has worked in every rifle I've loaded it for.
