Got my funky buck from ‘22 cleaned up. Life happens and I didn’t get around to finishing it up until just now.
Simmered to get horns off and plunked it into a bucket of Biz bleach. Sat there until this spring when I finally had a day to work on it.
Really greasy, set it up in the sous vide with dawn dish soap for a few weeks, low temp still wasn’t budging the grease. Final act of desperation, bought 2 gallons of acetone, submerged the head for a couple weeks and checked it again. Perfectly degreased, pure white bone.
Secured the sheaths with some gorilla glue epoxy. Have used Bondo in the past, but for whatever reason a few of the horns I have done are loose again.
Couple coats of mop and glo and I’m really happy with the results.
