2025 spring bear thread

Ok here’s the story. After baiting last week after the skiff of snow and seeing him come out behind my stand where I couldn’t see him pace around for a bit and then come down my entrance trail I knew he had me figured out. Cause I am by myself most of the time my options were limited but I decided to sit back watching my trail and not even able to see the bait. Anyways around 730 he pops out on the trail. I get ready and when he stops frontal at about 100 yards I shoot. He takes off down the trail towards me and stops again quartering too and I shoot again and this time he bails off into the bush favouring his front shoulder. Anyways I start tracking right away and he’s bleeding good but after about 100 yards I know something isn’t right. I continue on and jump him again and take a shot through the trees as runs off. After that I backed out and came back in the morning. I was there a bit later and it was dead silent. I was really hoping to hear some ravens or magpies. Got back on the trail where I quit the night before and the blood had slowed down he bedded a couple times quick then got back up and the trail was even worst. Followed him into the thick whiff where I found another bed and shortly after thankfully him. Still not sure how he went so far the first two shots were pretty good

Now to keep the baits going and see if we can get the wife a bear this spring. I’m going to save my second tag for fall and try to arrow one
