2025 sheds

Took a couple of my former students out for youth turkey. No turkey were killed, but I spotted the young 6’s drivers side in the binos and then hunted the passenger side up. Then found the small 5 point whitetail on a hike. Gave them to the crew for memories, and motivation to get out in the woods. Solid young fellas learning the way.

Came across a hill turkey hunting on Saturday and spotted a whitey buck and doe that quickly took off at my appearance. Pulled up the binos and saw the buck still packing his drivers side 4 point. He crossed the fence onto private and after about 5 or 6 bounds the antler popped off and fell to the ground. The buck did a little shimmy and head shake and continued his escape.
Pretty cool, as I've never seen a buck shed an antler in real time. April 12 is awful late to still be carrying antler, even for these prairie deer that seem to typically carry later.
