Increase in antelope, mule deer, elk, ant goat and CA sheep tags. Decrease in desert BH, and 2 tags for moose

Nice to see a couple of the units I wanted to apply for go from 1 to 2 tags for Non-Res deer this year. I have no expectation of drawing (and would probably rather not draw this year), but at least my dad and I could party apply. Now just to wait till next Friday for the disappointing news!

Will be a great year for antler growth. As I've proved to @NVDesertHunter I would rather be lucky than good, especially when it comes to the Nevada draw

It was another terrible season for older native Nevadans. With all the Clark CO. new residents applying we older NV natives are pretty much out of the picture anymore.
Like the youth preference draw, the State needs a "Granfathered" hunter preferance draw for oldtime resident hunters with very few years left to hunt.
In the late 50's I helped build some of the first guzzlers and worked many volunteer projects over the years to improve wildlife survival. From age 16 I bought my license every year. I've paid tag fees every year since that onset. NOW, I can't even get a deer tag in my native State.
It's been five years since I drew any sort of a tag, and my health crashed during that period. I have a lot of sheep points, but the tages seem to go to those with 3-7 points. Seems odd, doesn't it? Read the successful list and look for those of us with 15-30 points on it. They're not there.

Agreed. If you apply you get a chance. If you apply 25 years before the newbie then you had 25 more draws than the newbie. If a person fails to draw tags for elk/deer/pronghorn for years and years then is likely the hunt choices are mostly limited to top tier hunts or are not building points. Sheep tags will never be an easy draw as just too few tags vs. total applicants.
As for how statistics work, you get more and more “balls in the hopper” if building points so your odds compared to anyone even one point behind you are better than that person each year. How your odds compare to the entire hopper of balls is impacted by number of applicants, the points they each have and your hunt choices. I like to say you are given a higher capacity machine gun yearly to battle with but you have no control over the number of machine guns pointed at you nor the capacity of those guns.
Math does not care whose ping pong ball is selected but merely randomly grabs a bouncing ball as it bounces along with all the other bouncing balls so you having more balls in the hopper this year than last year is an advantage.
An advantage, not a guarantee. Can look at Colorado deer for what happens when is a preferred point rather than a bonus point approach where an old timer bias is built in which in turn screws your grandkid just qualifying to apply for the first time this year.

I've been applying in my 36 year home state of Nevada for 9 years. Drew an archery elk cow tag first year applying. Drew a bull tag in a primo unit with 4 points and another cow tag a year later. At 74, I may never draw another tag. That's the way the draw system works but with 5 choices and loads of points, you should be able to get some decent hunts.

With loads of points pronghorn HLTE and HSTE should be within reach. Deer should be well within reach with nine points, especially archery. Same with spike bull. Depredation bull/cow is always a toss up.
As long as we have more feral horses & burros than mulies, the hay day of Nevada deer hunting will be behind us.

How about a short 2-3 day mid-week season post regular season, run the same way as the Youth hunt? Older hunters wouldn't make as big an impact as the youth hunters or the regular season hunters, but they would at least get to go for possibly their last chance ever.
Also, no need for the rancor to a simple proposal.
I agree that herds have been dcimated by feral horse lunacy. Another big problem is big mining eating up the mountains and burying the valleys, but that will never be controlled. $$$$$

Youth seasons are to get children into hunting. I'm not sure how you see the reasoning the same.
Sounds like someone just wants to hunt muley bucks in the rut with less competition.

This reminds me of when a bunch of grey haired guys at CAB and commission meetings wanting the draw changed so they could be guaranteed to draw something special.
