2024 deer season , tag along guided elk hunt

Oct 20 Sunday due too the rain we slept in we went a spot right off the black top but was too foggy and was waiting for lunch we ate out , went to the same piece in the evening did a little hike just to get the feel for it , did see some tracks tho .

Monday Oct 21 I went back to the piece of public right off the black top I waited till it was light to see where I was walking , I walked along the edge of the public to get to the back part this was about 9 am I glasses that area until 1pm but no dice . For the evening hunt I went to the piece of public that was cut off due to the rain making it too muddy I got back about halfway back but couldn't make it anymore didn't really glass anything that night .

Tuesday Oct 22 I went to mesa that was towards the front part of that piece but somebody beat me there cuz I walked up to it . After that I tried to get to the back and did it I glasses 2 does a fawn and a forky on the other side of that mesa I spotted a doe feeding and then she bedded up . For the evening my buddy came up there and glassed a area but only saw a couple of does .

Wednesday Oct 23 my last day for this hunt my buddy and I went to the middle mesa to glass and didn't see anything so we walked to the area where we couldn't glass into and saw couple set of tracks . By this it was close to lunch so we headed back to his house for lunch after that I went to town to fix my low tire and he went to work . I left town to head back out I had to go the long way around due to some of the 2 tracks having water in em I went to cap they call it to glass down into
the area where I had been hunting in . By this time it was 545 pm I was driving along the cap and spotted a deer in front of me I ranged him at 150 and saw he had funky antlers and was a 3 legged deer grabbed my ML and shooting sticks jumped ofy my truck and walked right at him closed the range another 30 or 40 yards laid down prone sighted in and pulled the trigger he reared back a little and fell in a depression into the rocks , later I learnt that I tore his heart apart using 340 gr eld x bullets .
