2024 College Football 🏈 Season starts tomorrow…. Yee Yee

Big10 had 4 teams in due to scheduling. Texas was in due to scheduling, too. Only one of the Big10 teams played more than one good Big10 team, and that was Ohio St. Texas only played Georgia. ND only got in because of their scheduling was so weak. The rankings were always a joke.

ND beat Georgia because Georgia didn't have their QB and Kirby Smart chose to make coaching mistakes. Texas might have still lost but the play call at the 1 was about as bad as it gets. That game went from 21-14 with Texas at the 1 to 28-14.

We can pretend that more SEC schools shouldn't have been in because they lost to 6 win teams, but Ohio State lost to 6-5 Michigan at home. If we say only 1 win teams should have been in, Ohio State wouldn't have been in, and they are going to win it all.

Bottom line, we just happen to have a perfect storm. It's not reflective of any conference strength or weakness.
You are master of cherry-picking and storytelling to guarantee every angle for the SEC. Why even play games? Every week you could just write up a summary of how the games were supposed to go. The only question is when you have all four teams in the semis from the SEC, would you let them play it out or would you make up those games too.

it’s the lopsided conference schedules. And weak conferences. Do you truly believe that SMU and Indiana were 2 of the best 12 teams in the country?

That's kind of silly. I also pointed out the advantages that ND, Texas, and 3 Big10 team got. :D

At the end of the day, I think Ohio State probably still would have won the NC. Where the rest of the teams would have ended up is the point. This wasn't a conference domination or end of a conference. It is what it is.

As I've said, it's still better than 4 team playoff. If it would have been a 4 team, it would have been 2 SEC and 2 Big10. Btw, Ohio State wouldn't have been there. :D I don't know who would have won, but it wouldn't have been Ohio State.

The rules of the game said conference winners in. You won’t get any teams outside B10 and SEC agree otherwise, so you will keep getting SMUs. As for Indiana, on the weak side, but then again no weaker than ND or Boise. You can only win the games you play. No reason to play games if you start the season believing on the same 5 teams matter. And maybe Alabama should just win winnable games instead of whining.

Actually, I think the SEC team playing the best at the end of the regular season was Ole Miss. Tennessee's SEC player of the year was hurt as was one of their top receivers, and Georgia lost their QB in the SEC Championship Game.

Even in a simple HT thread you spin a weird straw narrative about OSU and a 4 team format that didn’t exist - none of which I raised. Carry on with that great personal narrative you keep spinning. I have become bored.

And if Favre’s ankle does get hurt we have another Super Bowl, so I guess I will just ramble on about how we would’ve beaten Indy and have our first ring. I can’t wait to see that banner in our stadium next year.

Hey, you mentioned Alabama. I don't think too many nonBama fans thought they had much of a chance.

You have a quarter left. Who knows ... if we used the CFP ranking methods, you'd be in after losing tonight. :D

You didn’t answer the question. But based on what you’re saying, FSU shoulda been in last year 13-0 when they were passed up.

Edit to add: And SMU didn’t win the conference.

We don’t have one, how can we have ‘another’???

No - I am the one mocking the premise that the best teams in the in include injured players.

As for “another” - it was another appearance.

So, you think Ohio State and ND would be in the NC game without their QBs the entire CFP. How does that work? :D

It’s sports. Injuries happen. Rankings happen. Schedules happen. Wins and losses happen. The what if’s are always there.
My point was that if you say the SEC is over, or ND beat the SEC Champ, you can't ignore that ND played the SEC champ without their QB. Sure, ND won, but not quite the same team. Fwiw, I think a proper seeding wouldn't have put Georgia at #2 in the CFP.

Hell, Indiana’s qb played with a torn acl. Not sure for how long during the season.
Texas QB played the last few games with an ankle brace which hurt his mobility. Obviously, you can't just wear a brace with your throwing arm with the ligaments are gone. :D So, Beck was over.

Great. And they probably still wouldn’t have won. Not sure your point.

Go back to picking a national champion based on record and final ranking, bcs, 4 team, 12 team? Maybe 64 team like college basketball?

You’re living in the what if’s
