2022 Wyoming Bull Bison

When the Buffalo trace is open, a bull bison has been put to sleep by a 375 H&H.

Good luck! I had the pleasure of shooting a .375 H&H on my African Safari and it was a wonderful rifle to shoot. Hopefully yours gets used for it's intended purpose and the whiskey is cracked open soon.

Still closed. Hunted for 2 days and all bulls were well within the park and rutting. Got some good intel that should help later in the season if needed. Will try again in 2 weeks.

First off, huge shout out to @amo16 and @ccc23454 for their help. Both were extremely helpful and knew the mindset needed to kill one of these brutes. Most bison hunting is a marathon and not a sprint, and my hunt followed that same path. Right place, right time is huge when it comes to an animal that wanders 25+ miles in one direction before turning around!

Camp. First trip was by myself, second trip was with my dad, third and final trip was by myself. This camp was ideal in many ways but especially because it allowed me to hunt the valley bottom bison as well as the elusive high country bulls above tree line that come around on odd occasions. IMO there would be no finer trophy than one of those high country bull bison way back in a roadless valley.

I made contact with all of the outfitters in the area I could find to see if they had seen any bison recently or in years past. One outfitter had one in his camp last summer about 12 miles into the wilderness, so I made a plan to include some high country hunting into the mix.

High country. I REALLY wanted to kill my bull in the high country way back in the wilderness but they just don’t come into there with any regularity or pattern. I made a handful of trips hiking and driving above tree line to no avail. Saw grizzlies, sheep, goats, and moose but no bison. I even had 3 outfitters lined up with horses in the event I tipped one over back in one of the drainages I hiked into.
